Root Strands are plants added by the Twilight Forest mod, that are found in Twilight Forest Caves as plants that hang from the ceiling. Strands of these blocks hang from the ceiling and, more often than not, go all the way down to the floor. They break in one hit, and doing so will cause any Root Strand blocks beneath the Root Strand block being broken to disappear. They cannot be harvested neither by hand nor with Silk Touch, and must be harvested by using a pair of Shears, much as is necessary for other blocks of this type such as Dead Shrubs, Ferns, Tall Grass, and Vines. The sole use of Root Strands is to be crafted into Sticks at a 1:1 ratio, presumably as a method of allowing the player to keep caving via providing the player with Torches (see Torchberries).

Root Strands can only be placed at the bottom-side of Dirt-related blocks (Dirt, Grass Block, Coarse Dirt, Mycelium and Podzol) and of other Root Strands.
