The Low Voltage Transformer is used to turn Medium Voltage (MV) EU current into Low Voltage (LV) and back. This is useful for powering basic machines.
The LV-Transformer will take packets of up to 128 EU/p at 128 EU/t and then output them as 32 EU/p (LV) at a rate of 128 EU/t. One packet of 128 EU is transformed into four 32 EU packets, making it 128 EU/t. Low Voltage machines will only take packet sizes of up to 32 EU/p but will accept them at any amount of EU/t.
MV current must be wired into the High Voltage face (the 5-dotted one), while LV current can be wired into any other face. By default, the Transformer outputs LV current. A Redstone signal must be applied to it in order to make it reverse flow, thereby emitting MV current from the High Voltage face (the 5-dotted one). It can handle a maximum of one conversion per tick, limiting the maximum transfer to 128 EU/t in either mode. The LV Transformer can be picked up with any kind of pick, even a wooden pick. This is not the case for the higher-end transformers such as the MV-Transformer and the HV-Transformer.
