The Familiar is a special mob from the Witchery mod. This mob does not spawn naturally, it must be bound to a Witch (aka the Player) from a regular mob like a Cat, a Toad or an Owl using a Rite of Binding. Turning a tamed animal into a Familiar involves binding a minor demon or spirit into the animal, imbuing the animal with more strength and abilities. Some of these strengths and abilities include fire damage immunity, lava swimming capabilities, falling damage immunity, and water breathing. Abilities are also imbued to the Witch such as: better curse control, broom control or brew control depending on the animal. A Familiar shares life with it's bounded Witch, damage received is transferred to the Familiar . If the Familiar dies so will the Witch, and vice versa, although the Familiar can be resummoned again using a Rite of Summoning. A Familiar can also be dismissed by 'sneak-clicking' on it, but then, all bonuses gained from having the Familiar goes away.
Having a Cat Familiar imbues better curse control to the Witch. The Witch's curses become stronger and harder for others to remove while being able to remove others' curses is easier. Also Cat Familiars allow the Witch to make the Curse of Corrupt Poppet as well as the capability of making the Brew of Cursed Leaping.
Having an Owl Familiar imbues better broom control to the Witch. The Witch's flight becomes smoother, faster, and better controlled. Also Owl Familiars allow the Witch to make the Brew of Bodega.
Having a Toad Familiar imbues better brew control to the Witch, giving an additional 5% chance to produce an extra brew. The Toad Familiar allows the Witch to make the Brew of Thorns, the Brew of Sprouting, and the Brew of Vines more powerful and inspire to make the Brew of Frogs Tongue.
- Damage transferred is 10% when the Familiar is near and 1% while far.
