The Aerial Faith Plate is a block from the Portal Gun Mod that throws entities into the air in a constant, predictable manner. The power with which it throws you can be configured by right clicking.

Aerial Faith Plates can be placed on floors, walls, and ceilings, and will launch Minecraft entities, items, and Weighted Storage Cubes and Weighted Companion Cubes that touch it into the air in the same direction the player was facing while placing it.

Upon right-clicking an Aerial Faith Plate, a menu comes up that allows you to adjust both it's horizontal and vertical strength separately. You can also set it to work only if powered by Redstone (perhaps useful in conjunction with a pressure plate or button if you find yourself wandering over it and being launched at inopportune times). By default it does not need a redstone signal to function and is always active. The light in the middle of the plate is dynamic and changes depending on the redstone setting.

Uses[edit]

Aerial Faith Plates are intended mostly for use in portal-themed adventure maps, but they also work for transportation across distances. This can be useful if the player must travel across steep or wet terrain. One downside to this is that the recipe is rather expensive, requiring 2 obsidian to make 1 plate, which does not stack. This makes it improbable for really long distances; however; it is possible to set up an infinite obsidian generator with an Igneous Extruder.

The high speed at which entities move upon plate activation allows its usage as an item transportation system, rather than using pipes. The high speeds reached outperform Combustion Engines and transport pipes while being much cheaper and without any risk of an explosion. Downsides are that the plates could be less pleasing to the eye, large amounts of items hitting many plates could cause lag, and if the items are kept out of inventory space they could despawn. Keep in mind that a Hopper is needed to transfer the items back into inventory space, and a Dispenser is needed to transfer items onto the plate.

One other effective use is mob transport within a mob grinder. They can be used to shoot mobs upwards to be later dropped down to either kill the mob or lower its HP to 1 and can be used to transport mobs horizontally faster than conveyer belts. When used with redstone, they can also be used to set a grinder up to kill the mobs with different kill methods, allowing one single grinder to switch between producing mob essence, xp orbs, blood magic blood, etc.

Known Bugs[edit]

  • The plates sometimes launch players shorter distances than configured
  • Sometimes an Aerial Faith Plate will play its launch sound twice
  • When a player/mob walks onto the faith plate, it may assume its extended position but launch the entity late. This often is followed by the launch sound being played twice.
