Xychorium Soil is a special block with the ability to support and accelerate the growth of plants. Xychorium Soil has the following properties:

Xychorium Soil with Wheat planted.
  • it behaves like fertile ground for the germling planted on it: hydrated and tilled Farmland, Dirt, Sand (for Cacti), or Soul Sand (for Nether Wart). Sugar Cane can be planted on it without the need for an adjacent water block
  • it prevents crops from being trampled, either by the player falling or jumping onto it, or by the presence of hostile mobs
  • it accelerates the growth of plants, an effect which stacks if multiple Xychorium Soil blocks are place on top of each other (described in more detail below)
  • Notably it does not enhance the growth rate of Corn

Almost every plant can grow from Xychorium Soil, with the exception of Flax Seeds, MFR Rubber Trees, Potatoes and Carrots.

Acceleration of Plant Growth[edit]

A single block of Xychorium Soil will double the speed of a plant grown upon it, compared to growing that plant in its natural soil.

Additional blocks of Xychorium Soil stacked beneath the plant will increase the speed by an equal amount: a plant grown on two stacked Xychorium Soil blocks will grow three times as quickly, and a stack of ten Xychorium Soil blocks will multiply the growth speed by eleven. However, keep in mind that the same ten Xychorium Soil blocks, if laid out horizontally, would each double the speed of a plant grown on them, giving twenty times the yield of a single plant in normal soil, instead of eleven.
