Hi Fanbus,
Thanks for contributing to the wiki. The recipes go on the product output page and the 'usage' template will automatically list all items referring to it. Please see the Style Guide (top right corner) for more info on writing an Article for the Wiki. Thanks --JC the Techie (talk) 20:42, 11 August 2015 (CEST)
- Hi JC the Techie,
- I can't seem to find this "product output" page, and the Style Guide doesn't help much. Could you please help me? Thanks. --Fanbus (talk) 15:23, 12 August 2015 (CEST)
- There is no page called "produced output". What JC meant was that you should list the recipes for an item only under the Recipe section of the item page itself, and not in the Usage sections of other pages. The grid templates register those recipes, and the usage template automatically creates usage lists from all known recipes on the wiki. --dgelessus (talk · contribs) 01:21, 12 August 2015 (CEST)
- When replying to a talk page message it's best to do that below the original message - what you did before was right. :) Otherwise the conversation becomes spread out over multiple users' talk pages and becomes hard to follow. --dgelessus (talk · contribs) 01:16, 12 August 2015 (CEST)
- Dear Fanbus, to further elaborate on Dgelessus' reply to your question, the little squiggly thing {{usage}} that you replaced with recipes (on the Shiny Ore Page) is called a template, this one "...displays an automatically generated list of items that can be crafted using a specific item, or the current page by default. The list is generated using a SMW query of the Recipe input property, which is automatically set by some of the crafting grid templates." in other words if a another page calls for Shiny Ore in a recipe, that item will be listed by the template under the usage header on the Shiny Ore page. So the Recipe you wanted to add would go on the Shiny Ingot Page under the Header 'Recipe' - Hope this helps some more.
- PS. I moved Dgelessus' reply from my page to here for the very reason he explains in it...--JC the Techie (talk) 06:38, 12 August 2015 (CEST)
- Hi JC the Techie and Dgelessus,
- Thanks for the expanation. If I add this recipes to the other pages in their "Recipe" section they will appear on "Usage" in Shiny Ore. Am I right?
- Exactly. If there are other items that use Shiny Ore in their recipe, they will be listed under Shiny Ore's Usage section.
- By the way, when writing messages on talk pages, please sign them by typing
--~~~~
at the end. Once you save the page, this is replaced by your signature and a timestamp. --dgelessus (talk · contribs) 15:51, 12 August 2015 (CEST)
- I sometimes forget to sign, but I noticed here and I signed later. --Fanbus (talk) 15:54, 12 August 2015 (CEST)
