GregTech[edit]

Which bees and combs require Gregtech? It seems that Galvanized and Invincible Bees (or at least their combs) require Gregtech. All of the combs of the Mineral Branch also seem to require Gregtech. Titanium and Olivine Comb also appeare to require Gregtech.

Would someone who understands how this works add something to the article pointing out which combs/bees/branches require Gregtech? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.198.156.74 (talk · contribs)

Oh, I never realized that. I compared the Master Apiarist Database in DW20 and Ultimate now and noted which bees require GT. --Artsja (talk) 20:55, 5 April 2013 (CEST)
So, the Brazen bee seems available in Extra Bees without Gregtech, but it requires a Galvanized Bee (Gregtech only) to breed. What gives? Is there a different way to get this bee when Gregtech is not installed? 108.198.156.74 09:29, 7 April 2013 (CEST)
Without GT they require Corroded + Tarnished with a chance of 2%. The Brazen Bee seems to be the only one affected by this though. Thanks for the heads-up. Noted now. --Artsja (talk) 10:41, 7 April 2013 (CEST)

Whoever wrote, that Wintry Bees need snowcover instead of flowers, should make a reality check beforehand. I just tested it in Forestry 2.0.0.10 and 2.0.0.11: Normal vanilla flowers are needed, not snowcover. --89.245.207.229 15:10, 16 April 2013 (CEST)

why was the edit http://ftbwiki.org/index.php?title=Bee_Species&oldid=64153 reverted? personaly i thought it was a better format than everything under collapsed tables. admitidly the extra bees section of it may need some splitting under two collapesed tables to make it a bit more readable instead of a wall but it makes things so much easyer to find what bee makes another bee. Table formatting[edit]

It looks like there are some differing opinions on how exactly this page should be formatted. Before this escalates into a constant back and forth, I made a topic about this on the forums. I hope we can discuss it there and then come to a decision together. Please refrain from an edit war as it will get us all nowhere.

Due to a continuous back and forth of changing the formatting of the page, it's now been protected until this can be resolved. Refer to the forum topic for the discussion. RZR0 RZR0 (RZR0's Talk Page Talk | RZR0's Contributions Contributions) 15:17, 21 April 2013 (CEST)

Mundane Bees[edit]

Mundane is what they are called, not Hive.

Messed up comb(s)[edit]

The products of several Thaumic Bees appear to have been tampered with (eg: "Charmed" comb), but I haven't identified how. Source seems to call for the correct combs. —Preceding unsigned comment added by TurningBreeze (talkcontribs) 17:22, 9 June 2013

The otherworldy comb was missing from the Template:Bees/Combs. I've added it. If you find any more of these discrepancies, please leave another comment. RZR0 RZR0 (RZR0's Talk Page Talk | RZR0's Contributions Contributions) 18:48, 9 June 2013 (CEST)
The Thaumic and Scholarly branches also appear to have this problem. Papery comb, airy comb, firey [sic] comb, watery comb and earthy comb are referenced by the pages of their respective bees, but are herein replaced by combs bearing the name of those bees... which do not appear in NEI. I don't believe this was the case in the past...TurningBreeze (talk) 04:31, 10 June 2013 (CEST)
I've added all of the missing combs now. In the future, these will be listed as an unknown comb. That will make them easier to identify. RZR0 RZR0 (RZR0's Talk Page Talk | RZR0's Contributions Contributions) 10:40, 10 June 2013 (CEST)

New Bee's - Old Bee's ?[edit]

Greetings all.

Today I've seen many changes at this page. Many Bee's are bred at another way, as it was before. There are also new "Magical Hive Bee's" and so on. Well... i am still playing FTB Ultimate (minecraft 1.4.7) and there are NO Magical Bee Hives. So many of the Bee's I would love to breed, I have to breed in another way. But I couldn't find an old version of this page. If someone could link it for me, or create a new page (maybe bee_species_ultimate or something like that), that would be very nice. Thanks so far. :-) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.186.114.218 (talk · contribs) at 12:13, 9 September 2013 (CEST)‎

I actually added a link at the top of the bee species page a while ago that is the "newest" old page, so FTB Ultimate players can find what they need. I have suggested making 2 separate bee pages right before I made the major change, but the general consensus on the forums was not to do so. Good luck! Can't Breed Icy Bees[edit]

Our server (Unleashed 1.1.5) is running Biomes O' Plenty with no vanilla biomes and consequently the only cold/icy biomes available for bee breeding are arid. As you may know to breed an icy bee a cold/icy biome is required, however after 160 generations without a single mutation (at a 12% rate!) and no fortune in finding any other players who have successfully gained any bees from the absolute branch, I'm starting to think this is more than mere misfortune and that an undocumented criteria for icy bees is that they not only require cold/icy temperatures but also a normal humidity. Under usual Minecraft circumstances cold biomes are assumed to be of normal humidity so the fact that BoP adds multiple arid cold biomes (to such a degree that cold, normal humidity biomes become rare), this may actually be an oversight which makes absolute bees unjustifiably difficult to produce in Unleashed's particular mod configuration, especially in view of the fact that icy bees are generally not sought-after as their primary product, crushed ice, has limited application -- meaning this issue may be stumbled upon only rarely. Has anyone had the same difficulty, or can anyone guarantee they've managed to breed icy bees successfully in an arid biome? SecretWeaponCoffee (talk) 17:49, 29 October 2013 (CET)

You could try building an Alveary with an Alveary Hygroregulator in it, if you are sure that the humidity is the problem. You should also check that you don't have hardcore breeding enabled, which makes mutations rarer. --dgelessus (talk · contribs) 19:50, 29 October 2013 (CET)
The server experimented with this issue once I managed to convince everyone that icy bees were impossible in our current world. A hygroregulator with maximum mutability rate was used multiple times to no avail by knowledgeable players with infinite resources, along with some other unsuccessful fiddling. Hardcore is not enabled. I'm almost convinced that cold or icy BoP biomes are somehow incapable of satisfying the specific requirements of breeding icy bees even when all the conditions involved are fulfilled -- a vanilla biome is required. Is this a bug, I wonder? SecretWeaponCoffee (talk) 12:30, 30 October 2013 (CET)
Has anyone on the server successfully bred an Icy bee in a vanilla biome? Even if BoP has disabled them in the overworld, I think you should still be able to find appropriate Mystcraft pages to create a Taiga age to see if the issue is truly the humidity. It's also possible that a Forestry update changed the breeding pair needed to get Icy bees, so you might want to check by going into singleplayer and getting a Master Apiarist's Database via NEI. --timrem (talk) 16:19, 30 October 2013 (CET)

Split up?[edit]

Where did my beloved bee page go? :( What "home page" requested this? I would totally vote for having the list whole again, as I am a user of all mods and when I'm searching for a bee the first thing i care about is usually not which mod added it. --Hannoman (talk) 01:12, 13 February 2014 (CET)

Agreed. Having a view that filters out bees from a particular mod may be nice, but the default view should list all the bees for easy search. Perhaps some wiki magic can be done that makes both the per-mod pages and the unified page from one data source? --Ben 50.131.243.230 06:21, 13 February 2014 (CET)
The home page of this site has a section on the right-hand side near the bottom named Things to Do. One of the items in that section says "Consider splitting up very long pages into different pages or subpages." So, I did.
But, since I know where you are coming from, I'll add all the names of the bees as text under each section so you know which page to go for details. Obviously, that will make the page a bit longer, but not as long as it was with all the table and link code. AQiccl135 (talk) 19:33, 13 February 2014 (CET)
I am up for splitting. Easier to search, no need to scroll down for ages muttering "Oh, everyone and their mom making bee addons, grrrrr!" -- OstPavel (talk • contributions) 19:42, 13 February 2014 (CET)
Lol, Ost :) - OK, I've added the stuff that I mentioned above. AQiccl135 (talk) 20:04, 13 February 2014 (CET)

Omega Bee[edit]

This page has long stated that the Omega bee does not require a Red Matter Block or EMC to create, but at least in the RetroSSP pack, that is definitely false. (This caused me much consternation, as I believed the page.) I've updated the text to match my observations in that pack. Note that I didn't independently verify each requirement: I know that without either the RMB or the EMC, no mutations could occur, and I know that with the RMB and EMC, approximately half a million EMC was consumed per mutation. That is insufficient evidence to be certain that the RMB is necessary, but given how the other bees in that line mutate, it is highly likely. If someone knows of a version in which the claim of no-EMC-requirement is true, please update the text to clarify which versions do/don't require EMC for that mutation, as it is definitely required in the RetroSSP pack. -- Ben 50.131.243.230 06:28, 13 February 2014 (CET)

Marbled Bees[edit]

Are Marbled Bees still part of Extra Bees? It sounds like they may not be, in which case they should be moved to the no longer obtainable section of the page, and removed from the main section. 73.238.254.125 09:15, 8 June 2016 (CEST)

They are deprecated, but still present in the mod. I think that they can be moved to deprecated section. --Antillar (talk) 11:57, 8 June 2016 (CEST)
