The Storage Scanner is a machine added by RFTools mod.
It can scan the area around itself for blocks that have inventories (e.g. an iron chest, a furnace, a pulverizer). These blocks are then listed in Storage Scanner's GUI. The player can then select one of the blocks and Storage Scanner will display the contents of that block.
Scanning the area requires energy and takes some time if scanning radius is big.
If a player has scanned the area once, they don't have to do it again. If the Storage Scanner fails to find a previously detected inventory, the line saying "REMOVED" will appear instead.
A player can also search for a certain item in all scanned inventories. The Storage Scanner will then highlight the block in which inventory the desired item was found.
