Guiding Thread is an item added by the Witching Gadgets mod. It is a tool which can be toggled on/off, while on, it will mark the player's location every time the player makes a sharp turn or stands still. Then all positions will be connected in a chain of light. When the tool is not active, it will not register new postions, but the existing ones will be visible. When the tool is not held in hand, the created positions will not be visible. Shift+right-clicking removes all locations.

"Mazes and labyrinths once were a favourable way of warding secrets against intruders. The real danger of course, is not finding your way back out.
In order to help with that, you have designed the Guiding Thread, an item that leaves a trail of light as you progress through dark and windy place. Rightclick to activate or deactivate it. While active, it will remember every turn you make. The light is only visible while you hold it though. Sneak+click to wipe it's memory."
