Some useful tips[edit]

First of all, welcome to the Wiki and thanks for your contributions! Despite you seem to be new to wiki, your contributions are surprisingly high quality for the member of your rank. But they still have several mistakes I would like to point out now before you clone them to multiple pages.

  • In the tool we write what is required to break the block so it drops. For example, Wpick for Wooden Pickaxe, which is required to break Cobblestone. Furnace doesn't go there.
  • If you see a texture with blue and red arrows, this means that this name is used by more than one mod, and the disambiguation for this item has been done. So you have to specify the mod in the () after the item name and it will work just fine.
  • The images you have uploaded perfectly meet the required parameters. Note that for block images you need an image of much higher resolution which is rendered with a special program. Anyways, it is always better to ask RZR0 if you need any textures.

It is not neccessary, but if you want to contribute to wiki, you better choose one mod. It is much more efficient, as you edit several pages which are likely linked to each other. Then you will be able to make the quality of this pages even higher by linking information on multiple pages. So far I have noticed you contributing to Thermal Foundation and I hope you will continue. This mod needs quite some polishing here and there, aspecially after my recent disambiguation works on GregTech 5.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask either me or RZR0 or WDA. We will do our best to help you whenever you ask for it. User PageTalk PageContributions 18:24, 28 January 2017 (CET)

Antillar, thank you for the advice and the welcome! I appreciate it. A few questions/comments:
  • I copied the "Tool" code from the source of other typical ores/dusts. Now that I know its only for block breaking, I will correct it and stop including that.
  • I only tried to edit disambiguation items with "(mod)" after it (i.e. Thermal Foundation). Did I do anything incorrect in respect to this? I just wanted to add mod-specific ingots/ores since their images and pages were missing in linked recipes (specifically on the Pulverizer page).
  • I have yet to do any "Block_" images, but I'm assuming as long as I can get a 256x256 PNG with transparent background, then it would meet the requirements?
In regards to contributing to the wiki by choosing one mod, I am open to that. I keep my own information compiled in an excel spreadsheet, which consists of the main mods I use (Applied Energistics, Thermal Expansion, Mekanism, MFR, IC2, & Ender IO), so I have plenty of recipes, usages, and info at my disposal.
If I were to contribute to Thermal Expansion/Thermal Foundation/Thermal Dynamics, I would want to start by getting all of those pages updated to the "format change" that happened when TE3 was updated/overhauled to TE4.
For example, the main pages of the "Thermal" mods link to the right place, but I would go through and update the infoboxes, Mod Nav, and (depending on the structure) youmay for each of the machines, items, etc.
  • The Mod Nav on the bottom of the pages is mixed between only showing "Thermal Expansion" (not showing Thermal Expansion 4) or showing both... "Thermal Expansion" mod nav on top of "Thermal Expansion 4" mod nav.
  • Also, in the infobox, the link leads to a disambiguation page for Thermal Expansion, offering the user to choose Thermal Expansion 2-4. Is this preferable? What do we do with items that used to be part of Thermal Expansion, but are now part of Thermal Foundation (ie Materials, Equipment)?
  • As far as recipes, would it be preferable to keep the newest (TE4) recipes on top, with a level 3 heading labelling the mod for each recipe for the older mods (if applicable)?
Please let me know if you have anything you would like me to focus on. --LosVaqueros (talk) 15:10, 31 January 2017 (CET)
