In terms of Minecraft, an administrator (or admin for short) is a person who runs, owns or administrates a Minecraft server. The exact definition of who is an administrator varies from server to server - some consider only the server owners as administrators, whereas others also call higher-level staff members admins. Administrators usually have access to most or all console commands from the chat.

The standard Minecraft server does not have any functionality to define admins, however operator status can be given to users to manage command access.
