The Liquid Registry is the Forge feature that provides a common reference for liquid-using mods such as IndustrialCraft2, Buildcraft, and others. Liquids are shown in NEI within a "Liquid Registry" machine which does not actually exist, but which allows other mods to recognize which containers accept the liquid along with other properties.
